Supercasino shambles: It's not enough!
WHERE is the cash? That was the question being asked in Blackpool today after the Government failed to come up with any substantial new money for the resort.
Town leaders were hoping for a big financial boost in the wake of their supercasino dreams being dashed.

But a closer look at yesterday's 300m regeneration package reveals most of the schemes, such as cash for new trams, sea defences, schools and housing, are already in place.
Doug Garrett, chief executive of Blackpool's regeneration company ReBlackpool, said: "There are some encouraging statements, but very little of great substance. This is not a package that says the Government will invest a whole lot in Blackpool."

Council leader Peter Callow said: "A lot of this money has already been dealt out to us."
There was no firm commitment to a new conference centre or a fresh attraction to replace the supercasino which was officially killed off by the Government yesterday.
Blackpool South MP Gordon Marsden said: "It remains to be seen how much is new and focused money."
