Strike by over 500 IT staff is called off
A STRIKE by IT workers on the Fylde was called off after management agreed to talks in a bid to resolve the dispute.
Staff at Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services, formerly EDS, based at Norcross in Blackpool, and Moorland Road, St Annes, were due to join around 500 workers across Lancashire in a 24-hour walkout yesterday.
They are members of the Public and Commercial Services union (PCS), which is involved in a row over pay freezes and job losses.
An agreement has been reached to resume talks on December 16.
A spokesman for the PCS union said: "PCS agreed to postpone the current overtime ban and the one day strike at HP Enterprises following agreement by the company to talks to seek to resolve the present dispute."
According to the PCS, there has been growing anger among staff since HP took over computer firm EDS in August 2008 with 3,400 staff axed across the UK and no pay increases this year or planned for 2010.
