Shopkeepers count cost of Teanlowe inferno

SHOP owners have been left counting the cost of the Teanlowe inferno.

Centre bosses were hoping to get most of the businesses open today.

The shopping centre was sealed off yesterday as fire brigade investigators continued to sift through the Poulton shopping centre for clues.

Many areas were covered in water, the centre's electrics were affected and there were safety fears over the badly damaged roof.

Teanlowe Centre property consultants, Mason Owen, said they hoped some sections of the centre would re-open today.

Mason Owen spokesman Phil Walker, said: "We hope to get approval from the authorities to open the centre.

"Somerfield may take longer and could be at least or day or two because of the water."

Despite initially being closed by the police, who cordoned off the area as a crime scene, the Teanlowe Centre car park has now re-opened.
