Shine wearing off Riverdance ferry

THE Riverdance ferry beached off the Fylde coast seems to have lost some of its magical appeal.

Although visitors were still flocking to see the stricken vessel over the Easter weekend, the past two weeks have seen a decline in sightseer numbers, according to local shops.

Local firms had reported business was up and received a real boost as people from across the country came to take a look at the wreck – written off as a "constructive loss" by owner Seatrucks.

Inquiries at Cleveleys Tourist Information Centre rose by more than a third.

Kay Robson, shop assistant at nearby convenience store Wards, on Anchorsholme Lane East, said there had been a drop in visitors.

She said: "It was really busy, especially on a Sunday. But recently, it does seem to have dropped off."

Jason Cook from Anchorsholme Service Station, said there were still people coming to see the battered ferry, but fewer than before.
