Schools turn back the clocks 500 years
History came to life at a Fylde school when Henry VIII popped in for a day.
Children at Staining CE Primary School dressed to impress in Tudor outfits.
They greeted the royal visitor who turned up in his 16th century-styled van.
Teacher Beverley Melvin said: "We've never done anything like this before but its proved to be a great day for the kids who've had fun and learned at the same time."
Activities throughout the day involved brass rubbing and quilling, learning a traditional Tudor dance – demonstrated to them by Henry VIII himself – and being taught formal court etiquette.
The day was rounded off with photos and speeches and without a beheading in sight.

* Young historians at Waterloo Primary School were also treated to a visit from 16th century characters during their own Tudor Day.
