SINCE entertaining the crowds with his singing in an airport at the tender age of three, this Fylde coast school boy has always dreamed of becoming a star.

Now Ryan Wilkinson has managed to get one step closer to his goal after landing a role in a new TV series.

The 11-year-old, who is a pupil at Shakespeare Primary, in Fleetwood, has landed a part in the second series of supernatural drama Bedlam.

The series focuses on an upscale apartment block called Bedlam Heights which has been renovated from the structure of an abandoned mental asylum.

There are a series of strange hauntings and one resident possesses the ability to see the ghosts and receives visions of their deaths.

Ryan, from Shakespeare Road in Fleetwood was picked to play the part of 1950’s school boy Robert Price who meets a grisly end in the mental asylum.

But despite the macabre theme, the youngster was thrilled to be given the one episode part. He said:

I was so excited when I got the phone call to say I’d got it.

“ I was jumping up and down in the playground.

“I love acting and have always wanted to do it for TV, I hope I can be in a soap opera one day.

“The filming has been brilliant, I hope it ill be the first of many parts.”

In the past, stars including Will Young, Theo James, Will Young, Charlotte Salt, Ashley Madekwe, and Hugo Speer have starred in Bedlam.

Former West End star Lee Mead has also signed up for the series.

Ryan was picked after being spotted by an agent as he attended Scream Theatre School and Agency in Layton.

The casting director suggested he audition and days later he was told he had been given the role.

His grandfather Wilfred Wilkinson is very proud of the budding star.

He said: “Ryan was over the moon to get the part in Bedlam.

“He has really enjoyed the filming and keen to do more work.

“He has wanted to entertain since he was tiny and we are very proud of how well he has done.”

And staff at Scream are confident he will get his wish. Jess Bell, a spokeswoman said: “Ryan has done fantastically well, especially as he only joined Scream in September.

“We are sure he will be a busy boy in the future.”
