Royal show gives Blackpool hotels boost

BLACKPOOL'S hotel industry is gripped by Royal Variety fever with "No vacancies" signs popping up across the resort.

Stars – many known to be using aliases – have booked in at some of the town's more exclusive guest houses while the larger hotels are cashing in on crews and audience members.

What is usually a quiet week in December for accommodation owners will be bustling with VIPs and ITV officials, as well as A-List celebrities.

The Queen will arrive by train at Blackpool North before the grand event at the Opera House on December 7.

She will be joined on the red carpet by a long list of famous faces, including Whoopi Goldberg, Bette Midler, Britain's Got Talent winners Diversity and Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus.

Preparations for the royal party are being made with Blackpool Council closing some roads in the town centre before the performance.

Bosses at The Hilton and Imperial Hotels have both confirmed they have taken "block bookings" for the show and will be full on the night.
