Robbers tie 77-year-old up in her kitchen

A PENSIONER was tied up and subjected to a terrifying ordeal as robbers ransacked her home.

Three raiders broke into the 77-year-old's home on Blandford Avenue in Cleveleys.

They forced the petrified woman into her kitchen, where they bound her to a chair with a pair of tights.

The robbers broke into the woman's home at around 8pm on Saturday.

After a search they stole some cash, although it is not yet know the exact amount, and jewellery before escaping but leaving their victim tied up.

Neighbours heard her frantic calls for help at around 11.30pm and alerted police.

The pensioner was unhurt in the raid but has been left extremely

shaken by the robbery.

Det Sgt Jonathan Clegg from Blackpool CID said: "This is a particularly nasty incident where an elderly lady has been subjected to a terrifying ordeal.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area who may have witnessed something to contact us.

"The victim has understandably been left shaken by what has happened and she is being cared for by close family and friends.

"I would like to reassure the public that these offences are unusual and I have a team of officers working on the case and we have already had a positive response from our initial inquiries."

The three robbers were all wearing masks during the raid and had their faces covered.

Anyone with any information about the robbery is urged to contact police on (01253) 293933 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
