Poulton Gala Fun
THE streets of Poulton came alive with colour, music and fancy dress as the sun shone on the annual town gala.
A last minute change of procession assembly venue from Moorland Road – forced by a sewer problems – looked like it might threaten proceedings, but the traditional parade still went ahead and snaked its way around the town to Cottam Hall playing field.

Music from North Fylde Band, the Red Rose Band, Poulton band and the Raikes Paraders entertained the crowds who gathered in the sun to watch the event.
On the field itself, a circus school showed their tricks and Singleton Cloggers, the Samba School of Dance and the girl guides took part adding to the fun. The fair was open to all, along with donkey rides.

Hodgson High School pupil Kelly Garret, 13, was crowned Gala Queen and the event was attended by visiting Gala Queens from other areas, including Lytham, Stalmine and St Annes.
Geoff Roper, president of the committee, said the event had been a great success. He said: "The weather was tremendous and young Kelly was just magical as the Gala Queen. We had some superb fancy dress entries and the floats looked marvellous.
"We had a good turnout and everybody seemed to enjoy it. My thanks go to all the volunteers and also to the Wyre Council for helping us to change the venue at the last minute for the procession. We're looking forward to next year's event and are looking for any local people who would like to volunteer to help out."
