Post office axe threat: Mass protest
AN ARMY of Poulton pensioners joined forces with school students yesterday in another protest against post office closures.
More than 100 determined campaigners gathered at Hodderway Post Office, in Hardhorn Way, Poulton waving banners and posters to show their affinity for their local store.
The protest follows a march in support of Lytham's Warton Street post office on Saturday which attracted an estimated 2,000 people.
Sixth-form students from nearby Baines School nipped out during break-time to show their support.

Organiser Pauline Macken, who lives next door to the post office on Hardhorn Way, has gathered 1,000 signatures for The Gazette's Stand up for Post Offices campaign, received a letter from David Cameron's office praising her efforts and posted more than 500 Post Office consultation forms through her neighbours' doors.
She said: "The show of support has been overwhelming."
Highcross ward representative, Coun Barry Birch, said: "To close this post office is outrageous. It's not losing money as a business as this is the most densely pensioner-populated area in Poulton."
His fellow councillor, Roger Berry, added: "It's obvious from the amount of people and the strength of feeling here that this is a well supported post office."
Pensioners were also keen to make their voices heard with Norma Jones, from nearby Beckdean Avenue, slamming Post Office bosses for providing incorrect information in their consultation document.
"They say there's a nearby bus route, but there isn't, at least not one that is practical."
And, Amy Loddington, 17, a pupil Baines School Sixth Form, said: "I've used it for posting off forms to universities. "
The Gazette's Stand up for Post Office campaign urges mail bosses to re-think their decision to close 12 branches across the Fylde coast.
