Former Olympic athlete and world champion Colin Jackson will open Blackpool’s newest gym tomorrow.
Colin, who is also a previous finalist in Strictly Come Dancing, will join fellow sporting guests at the unveiling of Gateway Fitness, which has been created by Blackpool Council at its new offices on Talbot Road.
Former Wigan Warrior and current general manager Kris Radlinksi and Mark Bitcon, the club’s drector of performance, will also be at the ceremony, starting at noon.
Coun Graham Cain, cabinet member for tourism and leisure on Blackpool Council, said: “The health and well-being of our residents is a key priority for the council.
“To support this priority we are delighted to launch the newest addition to our portfolio of fantastic leisure facilities. We’re offering an accessible and affordable gym, located in the heart of the new Talbot Gateway, Central Business District. Gateway fitness will be great for locals and those who work in the town centre. Join us on Friday to try out the new gym and for the chance to get personal training tips from sporting stars.”
The fitness centre boasts a 60-station gym, including cardio and weight training equipment, a large selection of exercise classes and free personal programmes and will be open Monday to Friday from 6.30am until 8pm.
The council’s other sports centres are at Blackpool’s Stanley Park and Palatine School.
