Mystery surrounds death of 40-year-old found in alleyway

A 40-year-old man has been found dead in an alleyway between two hotels on North Promenade, Blackpool.

Emergency services were called to an area between the Park House Hotel and the Imperial Hotel at 7.45am on Saturday, after a member of public found the body.

Members of the public reported seeing the alleyway cordoned off, with several police cars and ambulances in the area.

Inspector Louise Ainsworth said the man was not from the area, and was believed to have been on holiday with friends.

She said: “CID were called to investigate as the man had a slight graze on his neck, but officers are happy that there are no suspicious circumstances.”

No further police action is being taken.

A file has been passed to the coroner to establish the cause of death.
