A HOTEL manager has appeared in court charged with murdering 16-year-old Sasha Marsden and then setting fire to her body.
David Minto, 22, appeared at Blackpool Magistrates Court on Monday morning after the student’s body was discovered in an alleyway at the rear of Kirby Road, South Shore.
Minto, who is co-manager of the Grafton House Hotel on Kirby Road, appeared in the dock dressed in a black and white jumper.
He spoke only to confirm his name, age and address at the two minute hearing.
Child care student Sasha Marsden, from Staining, suffered up to 100 stab wounds to her head and face.
Police believe the attack happened in the hotel before her body was set alight in the alleyway at the rear of the premises.
The grim discovery was made by a dog walker, who tried to put out the flames with bowls of water, at around 9pm on Thursday.
The prosecution asked for the case to be sent straight to Preston Crown Court.
Minto, of Kirby Road, South Shore, was remanded in custody to appear at the higher court tomorrow.
