Motorway change has begun

Work has begun at Junction 32

Work has begun at Junction 32

Work has started to widen the northbound carriageway of the M6 around junction 32, at the interchange with the M55.

In the first phase of traffic management for the scheme, there are daytime hard shoulder closures and overnight lane closures on the M6 and M55 around the interchange.

A 50mph speed limit will be in force during the works.

The idea is to improve safety and reduce congestion in the area, as vehicles change lanes to either continue on the M6 or turn on to the M55.

The mainline M6 will be widened to provide three lanes northbound through the junction.

The traffic management for the scheme will change from Friday, May 29, in a second phase of the project when overnight slip road and carriageway closures will be needed.

The Highways Agency says more details of this work will be released nearer the time.
