Man tried to steal wire from refuse skip

A MAN went to St Annes tip intending to steal electrical wire.

Justin Kimberley, 26, of Bancroft Avenue, Anchorsholme, admitted unlawfully being in enclosed premises with intent to steal.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said the night watchman, at the Lancashire County Council refuse yard on Snowdon Road, saw Kimberley and another man about 11pm on May 15 and alerted police.

When Kimberley returned to a vehicle, police arrested him and he told officers he had gone to the tip to take electrical wire.

Gerry Coyle, defending, said his client, who had mental health problems and learning difficulties, had been led into committing the offences and regretted it.

He was sentenced to 28 days curfew and ordered to pay 30 costs by Blackpool magistrates.
