TWO men have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a pedestrian was killed in a horror road accident in Poulton.
Police were called to Oldfield Carr Lane just before 1am when a 35-year-old man was found in the road with serious head injuries.
He was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police, who have only just released details of the incident, say the man suffered multiple injuries consistent with having been struck by a vehicle.
A 38-year-old man, from Poulton, and a 33-year-old man, from Thornton, have both been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
They are currently in police custody being quizzed by detectives.
Police say the victim had been walking home from a charity duck shoot at Singleton’s Farm, which lies at the end of the lane, when the incident happened.
Chief Inspector Pete Simm, from the Lancashire’s force major investigation team, said they would be interviewing everyone at the earlier charity event as they attempt to piece together how the incident came about.
He added: “The victim had been walking home down a quiet lane after attending a charity duck shoot nearby.
“We are trying to piece together the sequence of events that led up to this man’s death and a large part of this inquiry is to speak with all the people in attendance at this event, so I would appeal to these people or anyone with any information that could assist with our investigation to come forward and contact police.”
