Lionel Richie stole condoms in Blackpool

A MUSIC fan who changed his name to Lionel Richie stole a massive haul of condoms.
The 46-year-old took armfuls of the contraceptives from the shelves of an Asda store and hid them in a bag.
But magistrates heard the soul singer look-alike was seen on CCTV by store detectives.
He was stopped leaving the store with £145.20 worth of condoms he had not paid for.
Richie, of Reads Avenue, Blackpool, admitted shoplifting.
Brett Gerrity, prosecuting, told the court: “This man was seen to remove four to five armfuls of condoms from the shelves.”
Steven Duffy, defending, said his client had stolen the condoms in order to sell them on.
He said: “This theft caused some amusement at the police station.”
Ritchie was given a 12-month conditional discharge.
