Joiner gets stuck in lift twice...

Joiner David Smith is getting used to being in a jam – and relying on the same firecrew to get him out of it.

David, 32, became trapped in the same lift twice in two weeks in the block of flats on Richmond House in Avenham Lane.

A firecrew from Preston who turned out to rescue David last Saturday recognised him from the last time he got stuck, a fortnight earlier.

David, who has lived in the block for two years, said: "They asked me, 'You're not the guy from the other week, are you?'

"I might go for a pint with them!"

David was trapped in the lift for about half an hour before the firefighters manually wound the jammed lift down.

He said he has to use the lift to transport his bike to the sixth floor where he lives.

David, who says neighbours have also got trapped in the lift, is calling for it to be repaired.

He said: "It's always been dodgy. We pay a service charge and it's gone on too long."

Sharon Dawson, from Contour Homes, said: "The repair team have been at the property for several days this week and have identified an intermittent fault. Ansa, the contractor, is confident the problem has been resolved."
