Jessica's bowing out
THERE will be tears before bedtime for the reigning Miss Blackpool tonight –and she's the first to admit it.
Having been crowned queen of the Blackpool beauties a year ago, tonight's the night that blonde bombshell Jessica Berry hands over the title to one of the finalists at the glittering final held at Imperial Hotel –and she's not looking forward to it.
All the 2010 finalists gathered last night for a meal and hospitality package at the G Casino which Jessica describes as "The Last Supper."
"I've had the best year of my life and I've got so very many happy memories that will stay with me forever," says Blackpool Victoria Hospital's most glamorous IT trainer.
"It will seem very strange becoming just Jessica Berry again – but at least it meant I could tuck into my food last night whilst all the other girls were probably worried about putting on the calories before taking to the catwalk.
"And I enjoy my job at the hospital." Despite not wanting to hand over the tiara –"I'm keeping the sash though!" –she was full of advice for this year's crop of beauties.
"I've told them to enjoy the occasion and take their time when answering the questions.
"You get about two minutes to make an impression which could win you the title.
"And for the girl who is lucky enough to win I've said to make the most of it and do everything that anyone asks in the way of making appearances," she says. "It doesn't seem like two minutes since I was crowned Miss Blackpool and I've enjoyed every moment of it.
"It's been an honour and a privilege to represent Blackpool.
"And what a great year to hold the title – watching Blackpool FC go into the Premiership was a real thrill plus all the other things in the town I've been involved with over the year."
