It's not too late to have a flu jab
FYLDE coast residents who have not yet had their free flu jab are urged to contact their GP to arrange the vaccine.
Those eligible for the vaccination on the NHS are being told it is not too late to get protected against the virus.
The Health Protection Agency North West says latest figures reveal low levels of flu are now circulating in the community for the first time this year.
Advise
Dr Stephen Morton, director of the Health Protection Agency’s Cumbria and Lancashire Health Protection Unit, said: “We’re not seeing flu in significant numbers yet, but it is around and I strongly advise people who have not yet responded to their invitations to have a flu jab to arrange to have one now.
“Flu can be a serious illness and should not be treated lightly.”
Symptoms of flu – which is more common in the winter months and normally peaks between December and March – include headaches, fever, cough, sore throat, aching muscles and joints.
The severity of the illness can range from minor symptoms through to pneumonia and death.
