The death of a man whose decomposing body was found by police after being alerted by neighbours will remain a mystery.
Officers found Steven Kovacs, 77, lying in his front room after they forced their way into his home on Southworth Avenue, South Shore, on September 21, an inquest heard yesterday.
Neighbours, who last saw him four days earlier, called police after spotting a body on the floor of the house through a window.
Mr Kovacs, who was born in Hungary, lived alone in the property.
The inquest heard he was estranged from his wife and only saw his two sons infrequently.
Coroner Alan Wilson recorded a narrative verdict and said the cause of death was “unascertained”.
He said: “On September 21, at approximately 6.30pm, Steven Kovacs was found deceased.
“Due to the decomposed nature of the body, it was not possible to ascertain a cause of death.”
