Huge wind turbines planned for Wyre
TWO huge 400ft wind turbines could be built in Over Wyre.
The turbines will be installed at Eagland Hill near Pilling if plans by Cornwall Light and Power get the go-ahead.
The massive structures would be about three quarters of the size of Blackpool Tower.
The company will give residents a first look at the designs at an exhibition in Pilling next week.
The proposed wind-powered project, based at Orchard End Farm, would provide power to properties near the site.
Blades from the structure will reach 410 feet high.
Electricity generated by the turbines could power around 2,000 homes.
It is hoped they will reduce the communities' dependence on fossil and nuclear energy.
Steve Allen, from Cornwall Light and Power– a firm set up a decade ago which runs windmills across the country – said: "We will consult widely before completing this proposal.
"The result of our discussions with residents, councillors and planning officers will be assessed in great detail and care to ensure that everyone has a chance to make their views known.
"We will prepare an environmental report to support the planning application for this project.
"We hope to see as many people as possible at our exhibition at Eagland Hill, and, of course, we will be available to talk to local residents as required over the coming weeks."
Plans for the scheme are being shown at Eagland Hill school room between noon and 9pm on Wednesday.
The display marks the start of a consultation process before formal plans are submitted to Wyre Council.
