Housing plan for site of Blackpool Pontin's
SHOCK plans for a massive housing development on the site of Blackpool's Pontin's holiday camp have been revealed.
Northern Trust, Blackpool Tower owner Trevor Hemmings' property and investment company, is ready to go public with plans for 370 houses on the site following "extensive discussions" with Fylde Council.
Despite the proposed development, which was announced in letters sent out to local residents, Pontin's bosses said there was no threat to the future of the iconic holiday park.
Pontin's chairman Graham Parr claimed Northern Trust – the landlord of the 38-acre site – was simply "protecting its interests" by submitting a plan to cover "any future eventualities".
Mr Parr said: "Pontin's has a bi-annual lease on the Blackpool site which will run for as long as we want.
