Trinity Hospice bosses today paid tribute to staff at Hilton Blackpool who work hard to help out at the Beaverbrooks Blackpool 10k Fun Run.

The hotel, on Queen’s Promenade, acts as the start and finish line for the race along the Prom each year, and offers its facilities to runners before and after the event.

The hospice, on Low Moor Road, Bispham, is organising the event, and bosses say they could not do it without the help of the hotel.

Events co-ordinator
Collette Goodwin said: “The Hilton is really important to us on the day as it provides a landmark for the start and
finish of the race and they s
upport us really well on the day by providing Springs Nightclub free of charge as our
registration area.

“They allow us to put portable toilets in their car park and they also open up the grass car park to the side of the hotel. They also provide an extra room, free of charge, inside the hotel for data inputters to record the information of all runners who sign up on the day.

“They are all really helpful and patient on the day.”

Collette said last year there was a large wedding of 500 guests planned on the same day as the run.

She added: “The Hilton managed to accommodate all of us superbly and looked after us just as well as they always do. The wedding didn’t
impact on our event and I hope the run didn’t impact on the wedding.”

Each year the Fun Run sets off from The Hilton and follows a route along the Promenade to Blackpool Pleasure Beach and back.

This year’s event is on Sunday, May 11, with the race starting at 11am.

Nick Taylor, general manager at Hilton Blackpool, said: “We are delighted to be able to continue our support to
Trinity Hospice. This is a fantastic community event.

“We open up our field for parking and runners are welcome to use our hotel for showers and our facilities. Our staff are more than happy to support this event.”

The run is open to everyone aged 11 and over. Entry is £9 for children and £12 for adults, with entry fees going to Trinity Hospice.

Sponsorship can be collected for any charity. Wheelchair users are also welcome. For details and to register, visit www.blackpoolfunun.co.uk. Participants are
advised to register before the event where possible to save time on the day.
