Having a ball with restored Blackpool tram
WHAT's big, round, made of sponge and has popped up in the middle of Blackpool?
Visitors to the Western Train tram in Blackpool might have done a double-take when a 6ft giant lottery ball was put on display.
The ball is one of 10 to appear at Lottery-funded projects across the North West as part of a campaign to highlight where Lottery Good Cause funding has been invested.
Lotto bosses are keen to show how the cash their customers spend is used and how it benefits local residents.
A grant of 278,000 was awarded to the Western Train project, to help restore the 1962 tram back to its original condition as a heritage attraction.
The North West has benefited from more than 83m of Lottery money in the last year alone.
Corin Brett from The National Lottery said: "All of the projects that have a giant Lottery ball on display, along with the thousands of other Lottery-funded projects in the North West, are improving the lives of local people and the places they enjoy.
