A MAN has been arrested after a gunman opened fire on a home.

Police were called to a house on Rockville Avenue, Thornton, at 4.50 this morning when two shots were fired at its occupants.

A man, who was inside the property with a woman, was cut on his arm by broken glass.

Det Insp Tony Baxter, is appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

He said: “Firstly, I would like to reassure people that this is an isolated incident and we believe that the people involved are all known to each other.

“Secondly, I would appeal to anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the offence to come forward if they have any information that they think could help with our inquiries.”

A 38-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and is currently in custody being questioned by detectives.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log number 0422 of September 16.
