Gongs for Fylde governor and an IT manager

FLEETWOOD bundle of energy Angie Hesketh can add the initials MBE after her name today after being honoured for her services to the community.

"It was a real surprise," she said. "I had no idea about or who put me in for this at all."

The mother-of-two is a governor at Shakespeare Primary School and is involved in the Home School Association there and also at St Aidan's High School in Preesall.

Mrs Hesketh, 42, of Shakespeare Road, Fleetwood, has worked for Job Centre Plus for 23 years.

She is a counsellor for Brian House Children's Hospice and a trustee at Fleetwood Museum which she helped to save from closure.

She is currently on an outreach posting at the town's Sure Start centre where she is a home parent advisor.

Steve Riley, an Information Technology Strand manager at the Pension Services offices on Cambridge Road, Ansdell, is to receive an OBE for public and voluntary service.

Other Fylde honours:
