Golden girl Jessica Ennis set for Fylde date

Jessica Ennis celebrates winning Olympic gold at London 2012.

Jessica Ennis celebrates winning Olympic gold at London 2012.

AN Olympic superstar is set to pull in the crowds when she arrives on the Fylde coast next month.

Great Britain’s Olympic champion heptathlete Jessica Ennis is heading to Kirkham to sign copies of her brand new book at the town’s Silverdell bookshop.

The Poulton Street shop is the only independent bookshop on Jessica’s five-date tour – and co-owner Elaine Silverwood is ecstatic to have been given the chance to welcome the star of London 2012.

Elaine said: “I can’t believe we’ve pulled it off.

“We are the only independent bookshop she’s visiting and I’m so proud, it’s incredible for us. I think the event will be huge, absolutely huge.

“To get Jessica to come here is just amazing.”

Silverdell expect it to be the biggest event they have hosted at the shop itself since hundreds of screaming fans queued to see boy band The Wanted back in 2010.

The signing will take place at the shop on Tuesday, November 27 at 5.30pm.

Admission to the event will be by ticket only, and will cost £20 including a copy of the book, Unbelievable, which tells the story of Jessica’s journey to Olympic gold.

The shop are urging people to reserve their copy in advance – by calling (01772) 683444 – to be guaranteed the chance to meet Jessica and get it signed.
