BLACKPOOL Tower is on the look-out for 10 new crew mates to ensure plans for their new indoor play area are ship-shape.
The Galleon Gang will be a new board of junior directors aged six to 12 who will play a role in the new 3m play area due to be launched in spring this year.
The new area, called Jungle Jim’s Towering Adventureland, has been hailed as the UK’s most innovative and interactive indoor play scheme. Based on a lost city, the interactive play scheme will cover more than 2,500 square metres and will involve youngsters tackling a series of adventures in search of hidden treasure.
Geoff Sage, Blackpool Tower general manager, said: “We’re looking for children who have got a sense of adventure and this is their chance to be involved with what will become the UK’s most talked about indoor play scheme.
“This is our biggest ever single investment in The Tower and we don’t underestimate the importance of involving children in our decision-making process.”
Galleon Gang members will be given an exclusive preview of the final stages of the design. They will also receive an early introduction to Jungle Jim’s new entertainment characters and be among the first to hold parties in one of the three huge galleons.
The children will also work with Blackpool Tower chefs to create a family menu that is both healthy and nutritious, served in a new food court that can accommodate more than 350 people. The chosen children and their families will also get VIP treatment at the launch party set to take place on March 13, as well as receiving a free season pass to Blackpool Tower for 2008. The first board meeting is set to take place in February once the mini managers are appointed.
Parents and guardians are invited to nominate their children by e-mailing to firstname.lastname@example.org, writing to: Galleon Gang, Alexander House, Station Brow, Leyland, PR25 3NZ, or by phoning (01772) 421442.
The closing date for nominations is February 4.
