A party of around 40 German visitors to St Annes celebrated their nation’s World Cup triumph at the town’s Lindum Hotel.
The delegation was visiting the resort from the town of Werne over the course of the weekend to celebrate a 30-year-old twinning link between the two.
Among those watching the match were the Burgermeister (Mayor) of Werne, Lothar Christ (pictured celebrating the victory), his wife Bianca, members of Werne Town Council and the chair of Werne’s Twinning Association Gudrun Holtrup.
The trip was rounded off at the hotel, on South Promenade, which saw a big screen erected so they could cheer their countrymen on against Argentina in Sunday evening’s final.
The hotel also laid on free sandwiches for their victorious guests.
Germany won 1-0 after extra time.
Fylde councillor Coun Tony Ford helped organise the delegation’s visit.
He said: “It was absolutely fabulous.
“The Germans were thrilled to bits with everything we did with them.
“They were thrilled to bits even more on Sunday night.
“That added to their exuberance.”
