Up to 1,800 people watched as a group of Blackpool FC legends took on a team of celebrities in a charity match at Bloomfield Road.

It was a tense start to the match which saw the legends concede two goals, but by the end of the 90 minutes they had equalised, forcing the match to reach penalties.

In the end, the legends were victorious over the celebrities, made up from regulars in soaps including Emmerdale, Coronation Street and Hollyoaks.

The match was organised by the HedzUp campaign, which, spearheaded by Bispham mum Suzanne, to raise money and awareness of brain tumours in children.

A total hasn’t been counted up yet, but Suzanne, whose son Louis Crowson has masses on his brain, said the match was a resounding success.

“I can’t put into words how amazing it was. There were so many smiles on the children’s faces, and that’s what we did it for.

“It went beyond all our expectations, and I can’t thank everyone involved enough for their efforts.”
