FOUR people were today being quizzed by murder squad detectives after a man was found stabbed to death in a Blackpool flat.
The 41-year-old was discovered with fatal wounds to his chest in a property on Alexandra Road – in the centre of Blackpool’s South Shore holiday area.
A second man was found with multiple stab wounds to his body, but he has survived.
Police were called to the street at around 2am yesterday after shocked holidaymakers reported seeing a man in the street covered in blood.
Officers described a “dispute” which resulted in the two men being stabbed.
The man found stabbed in the flat, who has not at this stage been named by police, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second man – who is 24 – was discovered in the street with multiple wounds after guests at one of the road’s B&Bs raised the alarm.
His injuries are not life threatening.
He, together with a 22-year-old man and two women, aged 53 and 19, have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
They were today being questioned by detectives.
A major incident room has opened at Blackpool Police Station.
Senior investigating officer, Det Supt Andy Murphy from the Force Major Investigation Team said: “We are working on trying to establish what happened.
“There was a dispute of some kind which resulted in somebody receiving fatal stab wounds and someone else receiving non-fatal injuries.
“We believe they have been sustained as part of the same incident.
“It is early on in our investigation and we are just trying to establish what happened.
“We have been able to identify the victim and specialist family liaison officers are supporting his family during this difficult time. Should any member of the public have information they think might assist us or any concerns I would urge them to speak to one of those officers.”
If you have any information which could help the police investigation you can call Blackpool Police on 101 or the Crimestoppers hotline on 0800 555111.
