TONIGHT’S second heat of the World Fireworks Championships has been cancelled because of adverse weather conditions.
Organisers of the event, which is held on Blackpool Promenade, took the decision to cancel France’s display after wind speeds in excess of 42mph were recorded.
Chris Pope, Marketing Blackpool’s events co-ordinator, said: “While this is disappointing the health and safety of event organisers and members of the public is always our main concern.
“After meeting with all agencies involved in the event it was decided to cancel tonight’s performance as a precaution due to high winds.”
