Father is fined for taking tip 'rubbish'

A HUMAN Womble has been fined for taking discarded items from a tip.

Paul Wareing wanted to make some money to send his child on a school trip.

Wareing, 32, of Buxton Avenue in Bispham, admitted stealing a screwdriver and USB adapter and being found in an enclosed area of Blackpool Environmental Waste Control with the intention of stealing computer parts and tools.

He was fined 60 with 60 costs and ordered to pay the 15 victims' surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said a CCTV operator at the tip on Bristol Avenue saw Wareing looking in skips at around 6pm on June 11.

Wareing admitted looking for computer parts as he built computers.

Kathryn Edwards, defending, said: "Many people have done this for many years – making use of things other people throw away. I refer you to the Wombles.

"To the public at large the items at the tip are unwanted items.

"He saw an opportunity to make money to send his child on a school trip."
