THE family of a dad-of-two killed after being hit by a car while while walking home from a night out have paid tribute to “a fantastic father”.

Police are investigating after Paul Brindle was found in Oldfield Carr Lane at around 1am on Friday suffering serious head injuries.

The 35-year-old was on his way home from a charity duck shoot at Singleton’s Farm on the lane when the incident happened.

He was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.

In a statement, Mr Brindle’s family said: “Paul was a much loved son and brother but above all he’d want to be remembered as a fantastic father to his two children.”

A 29-year-old man, from Blackpool, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody.

A 38-year-old man, from Poulton, and a 33-year-old man, from Thornton, previously arrested have been released without charge.

The family added: “We will not rest until we see the person who took him from us brought to justice.

“We’re not sure we will ever come to terms with losing him so cruelly, but we would appeal for privacy so we can at least try.”

Following the incident, neighbours spoke of their shock at the death but said the area was notorious for dangerous driving.

Chief Insp Pete Simm, from Lancashire’s force major investigation team, said: “Paul had been walking home down a quiet lane after attending a charity duck shoot nearby.

“We are trying to piece together the sequence of events which led up to Paul’s death and a large part of this inquiry is to speak with all the people who were in attendance at this event so I would appeal to these people or anyone with any information which could assist with our investigation to come forward and contact police.”

Contact police on non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
