Explosive find on Promenade

A MAN accused of storing fireworks illegally on Blackpool Promenade has appeared in court.

Javed Akram, 32, of Croftleigh Close, Withington, Manchester is said to have stored 75 kilograms of fireworks in a container on the forecourt of the Bowness Hotel without having a licence.

Akram denied the offence and asked for trial at Preston Crown Court.

The case was adjourned for eight weeks when the case will be committed to the higher court.

Akram was bailed.
