Escape artist Danny is a bit tied up!

HE'S bound to escape!

Most of the people who end up chained to lamp-posts on Blackpool Promenade have to wait for their fellow stag party revellers to save them – but there were no such fears for escapologist Danny Hunt.

He was up to his tricks again yesterday, performing a fun-filled escape after being bound in 100ft of rope and a set of handcuffs.

Danny, who has been performing daring and dangerous escapes throughout the month as part of Blackpool's Showzam! magic festival, was set the challenge by staff at Blackpool's Sea Life Centre.

A member of staff tied the magic man up in the giant rope as fast as he could – about one-and-half minutes – and Danny had the same length of time to escape, or lose the challenge.

And, true to form, he escaped on schedule but slightly out of puff.

He said: "The stunt went great today.

"The person who tied me up, tied the rope so tight that they cut my finger and it was hard to get out.

"But I escaped and I think it might have been a new personal best.

"We got a good crowd too and generated some great interest in magic and escapology which is what Showzam! is all about."

Stunned

Michael Jordan, 16, from Blackpool, was among a large group of onlookers stunned by the speed of the escape.

He said: "I really enjoyed the performance.

"I've seen Danny perform before but this was especially quick and exciting, especially with a big crowd watching so closely.

"Next time I'd like to see him escape out of a straightjacket hanging off Blackpool Tower."

The 29-year-old star, originally from Scarborough, idolises legendary escapologist Harry Houdini and has already performed three daring escapes in the resort, including his own version of Houdini's "Water Torture" escape.

He also cut his arm during a perilous escape – Get the Point – in which he had to free himself before a 500lb rack of spikes fell on him.

Undeterred though, the dangerman said he had plenty more death-defying feats in the pipeline.

He said: "I can't say too much but I'm planning on doing more stunts at the Sea Life Centre – and they could get a bit fishy.

"I'm also performing at the world's largest magical convention which begins at the Opera House on Saturday.

"It's going to be a real honour to perform there in front of fellow illusionists and magicians."
