A BLACKPOOL man has appeared in court on his fourth drink-drive offence in 11 years.
John Simpson, 36, of Waterloo Road, South Shore, admitted being three times over the limit when he was arrested.
Simpson admitted being in charge of a vehicle on Queen Street in the early hours of the morning, Blackpool Magistrates were told.
Tracy Yates, prosecuting, said police found Simpson at the wheel of his parked vehicle. He was asleep and the keys were in the ignition.
When officers got him out of the car he was unsteady on his feet and smelled of alcohol.
The court heard he had previous convicted in 2001,2002 and 2008 for drink-drive offences.
Steven Duffy, defending, said his client had been given driving bans in the past but had never been offered any help with his drink problems.
Simpson was given a six-week jail term suspended for a year. He was also banned from driving for 12 months.
