Delays expected on route
Norcross roundabout
COMMUTERS are reminded that work on one of the Fylde coast’s busiest routes has started.
Last year motorists were horrified when plans to create a junction controlled with traffic lights at Norcross roundabout were announced.
The scheme included the reshaping of the roundabout at a cost of £1.9m.
But following complaints a revised scheme, costing £195,000 has been considered, and work started at weekend.
It will include resurfacing around the roundabout as well as on the approaches from the A585.
Lane markings will also be improved and the footways and cycleways will be resurfaced.
Residents have been warned to expect delays as sections of the A585 will require single lane closures.
Highway Agency bosses say the work is vital to improve public safety – an average of eight personal injuries are recorded at the junction every year.
Work is due to be completed by Sunday, March 25.
