Dealer caught out by text message
A TEXT message landed a drug dealer in trouble – after he was arrested.
The message "Hi mate, any chance you could drop me a bag off in about half an hour?" was found on Pierre Lees' phone, Preston Crown Court was told.
Lees, 25, of Willowdene, Thornton, accepted it related to him supplying cocaine to an associate.
Duncan Birrell, prosecuting, said police officers had stopped the defendant's Audi A4 late one night last November in Thornton.
Two other men were also in the car and a search of the vehicle uncovered a quantity of drugs.
Lees was arrested and his property searched. When his phone was checked the text message was discovered which led to the charge of supplying.
He went on to accept he supplied cocaine, though he said it had not been a financial transaction.
At the time of his arrest he had a small amount of cocaine on him, said to have a street value of 20.
The court was told Lees had since stopped using drugs and had changed his life around.
He admitted charges of the possession and supply of drugs.
He was given a 12-month community order which included having to carry out 120 hours' unpaid work for the community.
