A COLLISION between two cars has caused major traffic congestion in Blackpool.
A black Ford Ka and a black Peugeot 307 were involved in an accident at the junction of Squires Gate Lane and Starr Gate, opposite the tram station.
Neither driver was hurt in the accident but the road was closed by police because of a large diesel spillage.
Drivers coming from St Annes are being diverted up Squires Gate Lane - while motorists heading down Squires Gate Lane are not being allowed to turn right onto Starr Gate.
Council workers and police are at the scene. It is hoped the road will be reopened by 6.30pm, in time for the start of the Illuminations.
