Concert raises £1,000 for new equipment at park

Thousands of pounds have been raised following a concert which saw more than a thousand revellers enjoy a day of music.

Friends of Jean Stansfield Park has announced it raised £2,400 form the concert, called Our Big gig, which will now be put towards new play equipment on the site.

A trophy was presented by sponsors Lloyds BMW to the best young band on show at the festival, TNT, for their cover of Sweet Child Of Mine by American rockers Guns N’ Roses.

Steph Hasty, chairman of the Friends group, said: “Although all the young acts were fantastic and it was very difficult with such talented performers to decide the winner and they should all be very proud.

“A huge thank you goes to Lloyds BMW Blackpool and all the bands and singers who gave there time and played for free, along with the 45 volunteers who helped the Friends group and the massive public support we received on the day.

“We are delighted to say that we raised £2,400 and are very grateful to all concerned in achieving such a successful day.”
