Class reunion for good cause
FORMER pupils of St George's High are holding a school reunion with a difference.
The Class of '78 is jumping in feet first for a charity event helping children in the Third World.
Steve Mannion, a leading surgeon at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, founded and heads an international orthopaedic charity for the treatment children with club foot.
Charity
An event at Blackpool Cricket Club on May 10, from 7pm to midnight, will help raise money for the Feet First charity which is dedicated to helping thousands of youngsters in the developing world who suffer from the condition.
Ex-pupil Chris Jones, a member of the reunion committee, said: "We thought long and hard about which charity to support but this one stood out as appropriate.
"It's 30 years ago this year the class of 78 walked out of the school gates for the last time and that fits rather well with helping a charity that is helping many children walk for the first time."
Anyone wanting to go along is urged to contact Julie Bride (nee Dyer) on 07800 951031 or Stuart Hickson on 07747 482677.
