Chicken theft due to heroin abuse

A DRUG user committed crimes of shoplifting in Blackpool because he was addicted to heroin.

Justin Kirby, 32, of Ibbison Court, Blackpool, admitted two offences of theft, two offences of not answering bail and failing to comply with a supervision order by not keeping appointments.

Addicted

He was remanded in custody to December 6 for pre-sentence reports by Deputy District Judge Alan Jones, sitting at Blackpool Magistrates' Court.

Malcolm Isherwood, prosecuting, said Kirby took chicken valued at 11 from Tesco Express and on November 16 stole two bedspreads worth 22 for B&M Bargains.

Robert Castle, defending, said: "The offences of theft occurred because he was addicted to heroin. Kirby has realised he has a problem and been in touch with a drug counsellor."
