Cannabis factory found in flat

Police outside a cannabis farm, Clifton Drive, Lytham.

HUNDREDS of cannabis plants have been discovered after police forced their way into an empty flat.

The property, on Clifton Drive, in Ansdell, was raided by officers this afternoon after neighbours reported a strange smell coming from the building.

Police found between 300 and 400 cannabis plants being grown in paddling pools in the property - with an estimated street value of £160,000.

Sgt Lisa Griffin, from the Ansdell and Fairhaven neighbourhood police team, said: “This is quite a significant find and it has ultimately prevented a large amount of cannabis from making its way on to our streets.

“We need more people to come forward with information of criminal activity and we will act upon information received constructively.”
