Budget airlines introduce 'hidden costs'

IF you choose to take flight this year you could still be surprised by how much it costs you.

Despite being forced to include all taxes and charges in headline prices, a report by Holiday Which? claims some airlines are still hitting customers with charges they may not see coming.

Ryanair, which runs flights from Blackpool to Dublin and Girona, came out worst in the survey.

They charged passengers 20 at the airport to check a bag into the hold and 4 to use the check-in desk. Flybe and Easyjet also came under fire.

Credit card fees can also add to the bill, as can the use of quick check-in desks.

Holiday Which? editor Lisa Cowan said: "We're disappointed to see the major budget airlines are introducing charges for services that were once included in the full cost of the ticket. Ryanair's charge to use its check-in desk is especially unfair. The only way to avoid this is not to check any luggage into the hold."
