Blackpool boxer Brian Rose showed tremendous courage to win a world title eliminator, beating tough Argentinian Javier Maciel on points after a titanic battle at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield.
Rose won a split points verdict in his World Boxing Organisation world light-middleweight title eliminator.
One judge had it 115-113 to Maciel, but two others gave it to Rose by 117-111 and 116-113.
Rose had to utilise all his depths of courage and no mean boxing skill to fend off Maciel, who was always dangerous.
The Blackpool fighter battle through the pain barrier, sustaining a wicked-looking cut on the bridge of the nose as early as the third round.
It was a performance to make his home town proud on so many levels.
