PREMIER League footballer Charlie Adam was forced to apologise to his 450,000 Twitter followers after his account was hacked.
The former Blackpool skipper left to join Liverpool 12 months ago before completing a move to Stoke City yesterday but still lives in Poulton with his wife.
He was one of a number of top players who fell victim to the online prank.
A hacker posted a raunchy message to make it sound as if Adam had the hots for Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
When Adam realised, he logged on to his Twitter account and posted the message: “Apologies for the rubbish posted on my account last night. Account was hacked. Now dealt with.”
Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero and Samir Nasri, and Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea, were also embarrassed by the hacking - which were all carried out by the same person.
Adam has retained close links with Blackpool, despite his new found star status in football’s top flight.
The 26-year-old married local girl Sophie-Leigh Anderson – a former Miss Fylde Coast winner - in the summer and the pair have settled on the Fylde coast.
