Blackpool holiday camp to close

PONTINS holiday park is to close amid claims of declining visitor numbers.

Bosses at the Squires Gate centre announced it will shut its doors next month stating reasons including a drop in numbers and the cost of investment required at the park.

Ian Smith, chief executive of Ocean Parks, the company which holds the lease at the Clifton Drive site, said the decision to close had been made with "regret and sadness".

The company said it was now trying to ensure employees are given jobs elsewhere in the company.
