Blackpool Council website advertises brothel

A TOWN hall probe was today launched after a brothel was advertised on Blackpool Council's website.

The embarrassing error came to light after Joanne Andrew, the owner of Natalies Sauna on Cookson Street, appeared in court to admit four charges of running a brothel.

Council bosses, who initiated the prosecution, are set to take action under the Proceeds of Crime Act against 42-year-old Andrew after the court heard the cash benefit to her was "staggering".

Natalies Sauna was advertised complete with address and phone number on Blackpool Council's own website in the Where I Live and Work section.

Those who followed the advert to the brothel's own website were offered "massage services - ie domination, fantasy, fetish and role play".

The item was removed on the orders of council leader Coun Peter Callow who has led a high profile anti-sleaze campaign aimed at restoring Blackpool's family image.

A council spokeswoman said: "The data is brought in for this section by an external company."
